That big round thing on the foreground is the thing they're facing off against! (Unless you're talking about other random black spots, those are just random debris effects /is lazy)

I just sorta ran with the fact she came from south Europe (dark hair, olive skin) and a sort of clean cut/traditional family (long neat hair)

you should try reading HS, it might seem a bit long at first but once you get into it it reads pretty fast! and thank you- this is the first time I've tried out the colored lineart thing.
